CURRENT FRAUD ALERTS

Internet fraud has become all too rampant. If you have found our website by performing an Internet search after realizing a strange charge on your accounts or after receiving a strange phone call, please continue reading. We have listed fraud/scam schemes that you should be aware of below.

COUMPUTER REPAIR WORK PERFORMED ON A REMOTE BASIS / Scam Scheme #3 - Dec-2013 to present

The latest scam/fraud that we have seen is where you are contacted by a company calling themselves "Global Web Solutions" about computer problems that have been detected on your computer. There are varying means as to how the caller knows about your "issues" - either that Microsoft has noticed problems on your computer and has asked this company to contact you in order to assist you in fixing these problems or that a pop-up window displays on your computer reporting that there are "problems" with the computer and to please call a certain number. This is all a scam. We are not the company that has contacted you. From what we can tell, this company is in Great Britain. We do not cold-call anyone for any type of service, and we do not perform PC repair work for customers outside of the metro-Richmond, VA area. Any charge made to your Credit Card or Bank Card is a fraudulent charge and was not made by our company.

Our company name is Global Web Solutions, Inc. and we are based in Mechanicsville, VA (just minutes outside of downtown Richmond, VA). We have been serving our customers for almost 21 years and have an A+ rating with our local BBB. We conduct a very honest and open business with our customers, and make ourselves available 24/7 for our customers.

What you need to do is the following:

  1. Obtain all phone numbers, website addresses, individual names, etc. that have been provided to you, as well as all notes on the actual discussions that took place.

  2. Contact your bank and report the charges made to your account as a fraudulent charge, and ask your bank to open up a fraud investigation. Stress to your bank you are NOT an isolated case in this matter.

  3. Contact your local police department and file a report on this fraudulent charge. Stress to your police department you are NOT an isolated case in this matter.

  4. Provide to YOUR BANK / BANK's fraud department the following information, and ask them to contact:
    • United States Secret Service
      Richmond, VA Office
      804-592-3086

The U.S. Secret Service is aware of the fraud schemes noted on this page and THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM YOUR BANK in order to gather the information they require to proceed in their investigation.

CHECKING ACCOUNT DRAFT Fraud / Scam Scheme #1 - Feb/Mar 2013

If you have recently noticed an un-authorized charge on your checking account in the amount of $29.95, along with a description of the charge being made by "Global Web", this charge is a fraudulent charge and was not made by our company.

Our company name is Global Web Solutions, Inc. and we are based in Mechanicsville, VA (just minutes outside of downtown Richmond, VA). We have been serving our customers for almost 21 years and have no method in our systems to auto-draft checking accounts. Nor do we have any item or service that we sell for $29.95.

What you need to do is the following:

  1. Contact your bank and report this $29.95 transaction as a fraudulent charge, and ask your bank to open up a fraud investigation. Stress to your bank you are NOT an isolated case in this matter.

  2. Contact your local police department and file a report on this fraudulent charge. Stress to your police department you are NOT an isolated case in this matter.

  3. Provide to YOUR BANK / BANK's fraud department the following information, and ask them to contact:
    • United States Secret Service
      Phoenix Arizona Office
      Agent Jenna Horton
      Phone: 602-241-4319

Agent Horton and her team are actively investigating this latest fraud scheme and THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM YOUR BANK !!!

CREDIT CARD Fraud / Scam Scheme #2 - Nov 2010 to Jan 2011

If you have recently received a "sales" phone call from a company claiming to be "Global Web Solutions" trying to sell you anything from website design, to joint travel websites to earn money, hang up the phone! DO NOT PROVIDE THIS CALLER WITH ANY PERSONAL OR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!!

There is a company based in Arizona conducting scam/fraud activity whereby they will charge your credit card 1000's of dollars for services or products that you will never receive.

If you are contacted by an individual like this, simply ask to call them back and ask them for a phone number. If the number is not 804-442-5300, then hang up!

Our company name is Global Web Solutions, Inc. and we are based in Mechanicsville, VA (just minutes outside of downtown Richmond, VA). We have been serving our customers for almost 21 years. We do not make cold sales calls, we do not engage in electronically signed contracts (we provide full written website proposals that are signed by you the old-fashion way), nor will we ask for credit card information over the phone.

If you have fallen victim to this fraud scam, you need to do the following:

  1. Contact your bank and report the charge on your credit card as a fraudulent charge, and ask your bank to open up a fraud investigation.

Agent Horton and her team are actively investigating this fraud scheme and THEY NEED TO HEAR FROM YOUR BANK !!!

If you have any questions about the information on this page, please feel free to contact us anytime during regular business hours (M-F, 9am to 5pm EST) at 804-442-5300, option #1.
